The Bunker #19 · 🤑How I Managed to Make 1000€ for a Project at 16y.o
5 reasons to consider if you want to set up your own design agency in 2023.
Hello friends! Welcome to chapter #19 of The Bunker. A Newsletter in which we talk about UX Design and the Freelance Journey, dedicated to those who are starting out in both worlds and who feel identified. From The Bunker, we accompany you on the way.
Let’s get started!
I posted this on Instagram the other day, and many of you asked if I could do a longer version of what we discussed in this quick thread.
Let's start by mentioning this phrase that I loved by Justin Welsh:
The difference between success & failure is just getting started.
And this was basically the formula that made me so much money at such a young age.
Let's say that for a "normal" person it would take 3 years. I started trying, tinkering and studying (a lot) when I was already 11 years old.
🏋️♀️Just because one day I started to do, while studying (instead of just studying). I put the time into work as soon as I could. That in 3 years, I was able to bring real value to brands. What I really want to convey is that I began practising as soon as I could. The reality is that many of us decide to consume a lot of content, but we rarely put the content we consume into practise. I simply decided to put everything I was learning into practise from the beginning, so that I would be sure to fit the content I was consuming.
It's OK not to know what to do with your life, it's not "normal" to know what to do with your life at the age of 11. Don't feel pressed at school to know what you want to do with your life at such a young age; instead, take random paths and discover what you are passionate about; allow yourself the luxury of getting lost in life and discovering things. Whatever you decide, try to put it into practise as soon as possible; there is no better way to learn than by doing, so you will learn the skills much faster.
📚Watch videos, read newsletters, read books, follow Twitter&IG pages... but until you don’t get your hands dirty.... you will struggle to truly integrate the knowledge..
I did that much earlier, because I didn't wait "until I knew enough", but started tinkering until I had enough value to contribute. But only because I decided to jump into the practical part from min 0.
💡Put the knowledge you study into practice and you will realise how little you really know.
Cheers, Jordi Espinosa.
